PRINCIPAL AND INTEREST
- основная сумма  и проценты  по облигации или ценной бумаге, обеспеченной пулом ипотек. По традиционным долговым инструментам, таким, как облигации, периодически производятся процентные выплаты, а по наступлении срока держателям облигаций возвращается их номинал. Но во многих случаях брокерские фирмы разделяют выплату номинала и каждую из процентных выплат и продают их по отдельности. Если взять для примера казначейские облигации,  то каждая отдельная выплата процентов и окончательное погашение номинала продаются отдельно в виде "ободранных" облигаций с нулевым купоном, которые называются strip (букв, г- "полоска"). В случае с ценными бумагами, обеспеченными пулом ипотек, каждая из процентных выплат и логашение основной суммы ипотечного кредита заемщиками объединяются в виде облигации, обеспеченной пулом ипотек (collateralized mortgage obligation). Облигации, составленные только из процентных выплат называются interest-only, или Ю. Облигации, составленные из погашения, основной суммы, называются principal-only, или РО; Ю и РО являются формами производных ценных бумаг (derivative securities).
